![]() | Luis LedesmaFollowing his studies at National Conservatory in Mexico City and Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, Mexican baritone Luis Ledesma launched his international career which took him to many renowned opera houses in Europe and on the American continent including Gran Teatre del Liceu (LA FAVORTIA, I PURITANI and LA BOHEME), Vienna “Klangbogen” (Leoncavallo's LA BOHEME), Teatro Municipal de Santiago (CARMEN), Dresden Semperoper (LA BOHEME), Teatro Colón (IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA) and Graz Opera (CARMEN).In the United States Mr Ledesma has appeared with the opera companies of Houston, Portland, Indiana, Palm Beach, Carolina, Memphis, Minnesota and New York City. In the 2006/2007 season he went on a tour with Andrea Bocelli and Ana Maria Martinez which included concerts at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl. Under the baton of Plácido Domingo Mr Ledesma has appeared in concerts at the Washington Opera. Other notable engagements include LA BOHEME with Madison Opera, Valentin (FAUST) and Amonasro (AIDA) with Shaker Mountain Festival and a production of CARMEN on occasion of the opening of the new opera house in Austin/Texas. In Germany, Mr Ledesma has been a regular guest at Cologne Opera where he performed in roles like Posa, Germont, Belcore, Silvio and Dandini. In the 2007/2008 season Mr Ledesma was hailed by the critics for his interpretation of Amonasro (AIDA) at Kansas City Opera and Germont at Michigan Opera Theatre. 2008/2009 appearances included Jack Rance with Montréal Opera, Germont with Florida Grand Opera, Marcello with Teatro S. Carlo Lisbon and Scarpia with Arizona Opera. In 2009 and 2010, he sings Escamillo and Enrico at Savolinna Festival. Future projects include Escamillo at New Jersey Opera, Manitoba Opera and Arizona Opera, Gérard at Nashville Opera and Valentin at Hawaii Opera Theatre. Equally sought-after as a concert singer, Mr Ledesma has performed a broad variety of orchestral works like Beethoven’s 9TH SYMPHONY, Mozart’s CORONATION MASS, Fauré’s REQUIEM and Orff’s CARMINA BURANA.
